Why is "Our Wardrobe" unique? Because it is the only such wardrobe you can go to no matter where you are - provided there is access to the Internet. What is this virtual piece of furniture? In this wardrobe, we’ve gathered a collection of stories based on family memorabilia. Stories can be found here in photographs of objects, places and people, all involving personal memories. These family heirlooms cannot exist without their stories ... In "Our Wardrobe," you will be able to listen to the memories of these various family artifacts that have been deposited here by other people. Some stories and some items will resonate with your experiences, and still others will inspire you to search the depths of your own cabinet to find it covered with a patina of souvenirs. Do not keep those memories just for yourself, but instead share your own story with us. In our closet we can accommodate a lot, so do not delay – add your memory to our virtual collection now: http://szafa.muzeumwlokiennictwa.pl

Why a wardrobe? It is a plain piece of furniture, seemingly nothing special, and used to store a variety of items that are needed in everyday life. However, a wardrobe is like a museum. Somewhere in the back, year after year, it imperceptibly gathers old things, long unused. These items are family heirlooms. They are not necessarily beautiful or valuable - usually they are common objects - but there is no way to part with them because they have special meaning. There are tangible crumbs of the past, of what we used to be, reminiscent of loved ones. They have their own history, interwoven with the history of our lives. Sometimes these "things from the closet" go to real museums. Unfortunately, in leaving their owner, they irretrievably lose their personal meanings and commemorative character. Family heirlooms cannot exist without their story. It is our memories that give importance to these things and make them unique. So let those memories be cherished, preserved and shared.
"Our Wardrobe" was created with the purpose of recording and sharing such stories of family heirlooms. It was born in the Central Museum of Textiles, under the influence of the exhibition "In Mrs. Goldberg’s Kitchen", displaying both the memories and the memorabilia. Creating "Our Wardrobe," we wanted to encourage everyone to reflect on family souvenirs. We want to show what things are hidden deep inside - their emotional value. We are going to "give a voice" to these objects and build a unique collection of virtual family memorabilia and accompanying stories. You do not have to part with your family object to enrich this collection. Simply through this site, you can put a photo of your souvenir and its story in "Our Wardrobe".
"Our Wardrobe" is not just a virtual entity – it is a real family memento. This piece of furniture exists, located in one of the houses in the Open-air Museum of Wooden Architecture. There, you can see it, touch it, and – most importantly – climb inside and read the stories collected in it and leave your own story.
What commemorative items are hidden at the bottom of your closet? Toys, clothes, papers, or maybe something else? Who did they belong to? Take them out, inspect them, and photograph them. Talk about them with friends and explore their history, and then place this story in "Our Wardrobe"!
